INTRODUCTION

WOMEN IN JOURNALISM ASSOCIATION (WIJA) is a non-governmental, non-political and non profit making organization that was established 2006, and founded by a group of competent local women. The organization has the main office in Hargeisa and expects to expand its presence to other towns and cities of the country.

The founders, with extensive background in journalism, seek to appreciate and use the power of media/journalism to bring about positive change into the social status of local women.

The founding members realize the influence of media and want to make available a pool of media skills and experience so that women can play a key role in mainstreaming the interest of marginalized groups, particularly women, in to the development activities.
